Dress Up your Holiday Table

December 23, 2014 by Mari

The holidays can be a pretty hectic time. Family to host, meals to plan, gifts to wrap – I know it can get tough! However, I always like to get creative during a festive time like Christmas.

While browsing online during the months prior to Christmas, I stumbled upon this genius idea for innovative place settings. I don’t know about you but growing up in an Italian/Venezuelan family, we always had a variety of nuts during the holiday season. Chestnuts, almonds, walnuts and, my favorite, hazelnuts were all placed in the middle of the coffee table with a nutcracker never too far away.  IMG_0595 So, this year, I’m trying this little trick out for the big Christmas Eve dinner.

By slightly opening up a walnut at it’s crevice, this’ll give you enough room to place a small piece of paper with the guest’s name on it. IMG_0596 I chose red construction paper because it just goes with the place settings at the table. However, you can use this trick for your New Year’s Eve meal by using silver, gold or any color of construction paper that would pair well with your table.

Happy holidays to you and your family!

What other tips and tricks do you have for the holiday season? Leave a comment with your ideas - I'd love to know!
